istory of Civil engineering dates back with the evolution of human needs for food, shelter, and routes for transportation. It stands among the oldest engineering disciplines in human history and is universally recognized as the mother of all engineering disciplines. Civil engineering is a very broad and vast field that encompasses everything we see around us, either built or being built using natural and manmade resources. It widely covers the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of buildings, bridges, streets and highways, railways, airports, industries, all kinds of infrastructure for water supply, sewage, hydraulic structures, irrigation systems, and many more.

The Civil Engineering Department at Mir Chakar Khan Rind University was established in 2019, with the first intake of forty-two (42) students of BS Civil Engineering Technology in fall 2020. The National Technology Council (NTC) granted the green signal after a successful Zero Visit in 2020. MCUT is among the few public-sector universities in Southern Punjab offering a Civil Engineering Technology program. The department's infrastructure has already been completed, and the labs have been equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and commercial testing facilities. Advanced testing and research equipment, along with allied facilities, have also been planned and are in the process of being purchased to strengthen the consultancy, commercial testing, and research-oriented activities on a full scale. All the departmental facilities are not only helpful in covering the educational requirements and professional growth of students but also meet the regional needs for commercial testing requirements.
